First step…Hire a virtual assistant

I recently tailored my market to focus primarily on those in fashion and entertainment. I can say that really determining a solid niche has allowed for my business to gain more recognition.

Google has a service where alerts can be sent to your email tailored to specific topics. Currently I have an alert set up to send me new articles that discuss anything to do with “virtual assistant”. I recently came across an article focusing on Jellaine Ross, designer of Cherry Blossom, a fashion and beauty brand based in Australia. Her business has gained a lot of attention. Her products have been featured in the Oscars and Golden Globe swag bags as well as sold online. Jellaine’s business is currently making upwards of $3 million a year! One of her first business tips to reach this level of success is HIRE A VIRTUAL ASSISTANT!!!! to read more of her tips click here

Getting ready to gear up for a networking event in two weeks and I am in the mood for some new advertising material. Of course I could make flyers on my own which would be much more cost effective, but I am looking for more so I did some research and discovered moo.com, a luxury business provider that specializes in very trendy business cards, postcards, notecards that can be designed and used for your business. I am sure there are others out there in the same boat. Even I as a virtual assistant need to continuously find ways to get the client’s attention. How can I best attract my audience and educate them on the virtual assistant industry all at the same time. I think I found my answer with Moo!

It’s the weekend

Cheers to the weekend! What is it about a Friday that gets everyone to a point of relaxation and release. Why is it on a Friday that everyone now becomes laid back and full of cheer…It’s the weekend. This week has been a LOOOOONNNGGGG week. Work demands, upon more demands, upon more demands encompassed my entire week. Then came Friday…YES! It just seems like the entire airspace changes. Cheers to the freakin’ weekend.

Google calendar is a great tool that not only allows you to organize and color coat all your networking events, appointments and meetings, but for your potential clients and present clients you can share your events as well as turn your calendar into sub calendars and share those calendars with only those who are required to know.

There are several google applications on iPhone and Google calendar is also an app for Android users only.

Consider Google calendar and several of these other software tools for your business.

I have found my niche

For anyone starting a Virtual Assistant business one of the more common questions is to discover your niche. Who will you market your  services to? Initially my focus was to market my services to small businesses and entrepreneurs. The interest has been steady. My main task has been to educate those interested on the role of a VA and what exactly can a virtual assistant do?

Several of the networking events and conversations I participated in consisted of those in the fashion industry as well as the entertainment industry. Then it happened…I found my niche! CMC Virtual Assistance will now cater it’s services to those in the fashion and entertainment industries. I have noticed an upcoming increase of online designers, stylist, etc who could greatly benefit from the use of a virtual assistant. I immediately became excited. I instantly went into a re-branding mode. New website layout, business cards, networking approach, new direction!

It’s true that you learn a lot along the way when starting business. The good, the bad, and the unsure.

Let the journey begin…again

A small change goes a long way

Tonight I decided to check-in with my website. As we all know this is a world attached to social media and the online community. As any business owner knows it is important to have a user friendly site where one can maneuver through your site without major complications.

My focus was not so much emphasizing on the user content as it was the actually “look”. A small change to the font choice turned my overall presence into a site that now appears to be more professional and less child like. We all want to be taken seriously.

How often do you check in with your site?

Below is the before and after in the font change to my own site (CMC Virtual Assistance) Take note of the first impression you have once you see each font choice. Thoughts?

Time to brush up on those skills

In an age where the internet has been a way of life for business have you considered brushing up on those computer skills. It is not always about finding those most expensive top of the line service. Sometimes a simple online FREE course can do the trick. I recently came across Free Online Learning at GCF which provides online courses in Technology, reading and math.

The Technology section has several different computer courses available from Google Docs to Access to Microsoft Office. You have the ability to learn addition skills from the comfort of your own home. Why not take advantage. I’m currently reviewing Access right now!
